Thinking Slimmer - Week 1

The fat bird slim challenge continues, I stopped Slimming World not that it wasn't working for me but we had about 3 months of sickness and I lost motivation. I think I have put on at least 1/2 stone of what I lost but I am ready to get going again.

I am trying Thinking Slimmer Slimpod and Fitpod. (here comes the science part)

Slimpods are a series of unique voice recordings which help people to achieve effective weight loss, whether you want to lose 5lbs or 5 stones. Unlike other methods of losing weight, there are no diets, no calorie counting and no willpower required. Slimpods have been developed by Harley Street experts and use modern approaches to the science of unconscious persuasion to gently retune the mind and adjust the way slimmers think about the world, especially in relation to food, health and fitness. Because it's like having your own personal mind coach, weight loss becomes simple and effortless.

I have been listening every night for a week and I have started to notice a difference already. Not in actual weight loss but in my eating habits. I am snacking less, making healthier choices and finding ways to get moving more, which strangely has been housework which I hate! I really enjoy listening to the pods, I find Trevor's voice very soothing and I feel completely relaxed before I go to bed. I am not expecting overnight miracles but if I carry on the way I am I will be slimmer for my sisters wedding in November.

As part of the Thinking Slimmer blogger programme I have been sent some XPG Jenni Falconer clothes from Debenhams to exercise in.

Dodgy picture I know!

They are really nice and I am looking forward to doing actual exercise in them, this week I am trying Zumba on the wii.

I will keep you updated with my progress.

Through The Dark Times

This months Mental Health Carnival is being hosted at Touch & Tickle. The lovely Sheonad has come up with some prompts for anyone that is stuck.

I have chosen a prompt for my post:

Do you have a mantra/quote/song that got you through a dark time?

I know you're shocked right I am going to write about Music and Mental Health!

I have written before about my 'theme tune' my latest is Dance Without Sleeping by Melissa Etheridge (hence the blog name if you didn't already know).

I use music to help me through the tough times, I like having something to escape into and find that music helps sooth my soul. I often find it hard to explain how I am feeling, especially while I am inside the darkness.

In 2007 I had my worse bout of depression it was actually when I finally diagnosed as having depression. I had a lot of time off work and found myself alone at lot.  There were two tracks I listened too over and over again.

One was Grace Kelly by Mika and the other was How to Save a Life by The Fray. It was all over the radio and I suppose I was hoping would come and save me.

It's funny what songs speak to you and provoke a reaction. You can always tell my mood from the music I am playing.

What track to do listen to when you're in need?

I shall leave you will How to Save a Life, oh and its not too late to submit a post!

Is Your Blog Authentic?

Image from Tots100
The buzz word if the day at Cybher was ‘Authentic’, is your blog authentically you? It really got me thinking is my blog really reflective of me.

I have been blogging 3 years and I think my style and defiantly what I write about has changed over years. There have been period of time that I have written what I think people want to read or as a ‘mummy blogger’ I should be writing about.

That was one of the reasons I stopped writing New Mummy after 2 years I couldn’t be completely me and still write the blog. I didn’t want to write about potty training and tantrums anymore (well at least on my personal blog), I need a blog that showed who I was as a whole person not just as a Mother.

This blog is just over a year old and even though I don’t write as much as I used to I am still really proud of my little bit of the internet. I get to come here I write about whatever it is that’s on my mind and I feel no pressure on what I should be writing or how I write it.

I like to think that out of any of the blogs I write or have written that this one is 100% authentically me that it represents who I am.  Of course only those that have met me can tell me if its 100% authentic.

What do you think? Do you think my blog is authentically me?

Is your blog really reflecting you?

4 Week Slendertone Challenge – Weeks 3 & 4

As I have been in a blogging break I have realised I have not updated you with my Slendertone Abs Challenge *slaps wrists*.

I have finished the 4 week challenge and lost 2 inches across my stomach or I had until I got lazy and stopped doing it for a few weeks.

Like with any type of exercise or toning once you stop it started to go back to the way it is. So I will be starting it up again as I am really please with results I had.

I really like using the Slender Tone abs for several reasons:

  • It’s easy to use
  • You can do it at any time
  • You can do it with or without exercise
  • It actually works
  • You can feel it working
  • It’s easy to fit into your schedule

I will be carrying one with this and I now have the Slender Tone arms so I shall be nice and toned by the time Summer decides to show up!

I will give you an update soon on the arms and I have more weight lose news for you tomorrow.

The SlenderTone Abs is available online for £149.99

What I'm Wearing to #Cybher

Red Lips

My theory is if you are looking at my red lips you will not notice my bad dress sense!

See you Saturday.

New Music Alert - Face to Face by Talk in Code

Every now and then I get sent tracks to listen to and review, I actually wish I got more as it would be my dream job. Anyway Chris from the band Talk in Code got in touch and asked if I would listen to there debut single Face to Face.

Talk in Code are a 5 piece Swindon band and their music is a mixture of indie with a bit of synth thrown in.  They actually remind a bit of The Editors though their sound isn't quite a smooth yet.

I listened to their single Face to Face and I like it but I don't love it, yet. Its a grower, every time I hear it I like it more. I just find in same places its a bit busy too many sounds going on.  The vocals are strong which really saves this track.

I prefer their track Another Reason which you can listen to here

I do however love the video which was filmed on a budget of £100, my kind of band.

I want to know what you think of the track and the video, let me know your opinions.

Face to Face is available to download on 21st May and you can learn more about Talk in Code on their website

Tuneful Tuesday - Songs That Make Me Cry

Tuneful Tuesday is about those songs that are so beautiful and emotional that they can stop you in your tracks.  Songs that bring back memories or make you stop and think.

There are some songs that no matter how much I listen to them they make me cry, which can really embarrassing when you hear them when you are out in public.

What these songs all have in common (apart from making be bawl like a baby) is that they are full of emotions and can relate to them. They are not really sad songs but they make me emotional.

So here are songs that make me cry:

Kelly Clarkson - Because of You

Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings

Dixie Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice

Melissa Etheridge - I Run For Life

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares to You

What songs make you cry?
