The Sunday Chill Out

I believe Sunday is a day for relaxing and just chilling out.

Today we've spent the day in garden. BG was playing, OH kept one eye on the grand prix and I read my kindle with the radio playing in the background.

The Sunday Chill Out is a tack to help you unwind, so grab yourself a drink, lay back and enjoy.

Friday Song

Earlier this week I wrote about losing my blogging mojo and to be honest I still haven't found it. But I can always write about music!

Friday Song is a song the sums up my week, its a soundtrack to what's been going on in my life and this week has been pretty dull!

We've done a bit of swimming, been to playgroup and painted some pictures but that's about it.

The weather at the beginning of the week was a bit cold and grey ( a bit like me), which lets face it doesn't help with motivation.

So I thought I would choose a song this week to help inspire me.

This is Paloma Faith and Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful.

I'm Scared

I have lost my blogging mojo! I keep thinking of great posts to write but when I come to do it they just fall out of my head or realise they are terrible posts (well more terrible than normal).

I have decided to be a super lazy blogger and recycle some post from my creative writing blog (which has barely been touched). So I will leave you will my bad attempt at poetry.

I’m scared I’m a bad mother
I’m scared I’ll turn into mine

I’m scared people with laugh
I’m scared they won’t read it

I’m scared I won’t reach my full potential
I’m scared I already have

I’m scared you won’t love me forever
I’m scared you will

I’m scared I’m not enough
I’m scared I’m too much

I’m scared I’ll fail
I’m scared I’ll succeed

I'm scared to be heard
I'm scared I'll be ignored

I’m scared to try
I’m scared what will happen if I don’t

I’m scared I’ll disappoint you
I’m scared I all ready do

I’m scared to let go
I’m scared if I don’t what will happen

I’m scared I will always be bitter
I’m scared to forgive

I’m scared that you might leave me
I’m scared that I won’t stay

I’m scared to cry
I’m scared to laugh

I’m scared of what might be inside me
I’m scared I can’t let it out

I’m scared every minute of every day.

Do You Lie To Your Children?

I'm not a stranger to telling a little white lie. In fact I have told a few whoppers in my time.

Tonight I told BG a blatant lie to get get to do something I wanted her to do.

I told her that eating her peas would make her good at dancing and she believed me!

It doesn't stop there, she then asked what would happen to her if she ate all her pasta up and OH told her it would make her good at singing.

Is this the start of a slippery slope?

I wonder what I could get her to believe next, or is that just mean?

Tuneful Tuesday - For Jen

A good friend of mine Jen from Mum in The Madhouse is in hospital at the moment so I thought what better way to say Get Well than dedicate this Tuneful Tuesday to her.

You would think this would be easy as Jen has awesome taste in music much like my own, but its been tough choosing one. I decided to go with a song that cheers me up when I am down, I hope it works for Jen.

You have to play it loud!

Get better soon!

What’s Your Theme Tune?

Ever since I was a teenager and before Ally McBeal made it popular I have had a theme tune. It has always been a way to express how I am feeling at that time in my life. I hear them in my head as I walk and I sing them out loud when I am alone.

My first theme tune was Ocean Colour Scenes The Circle. I was 16 and had moved from Essex to Cambridgeshire and started 6th form and didn’t know anyone. Groups had already been formed and everyone knew each other. I found it difficult to fit in and make friends and this song helped me through that. It gave me confidence that one day I would be inside the circle.

I left 6th form and decided to start college where I made some great friends and started the beginning of my clubbing era. Dancing Queen by ABBA became my theme tune and I would listen to it when I got ready to go out. My friends would even sing it to me when it came on. Even when I hear it now it brings back great memories of dancing all night long.

Over the years my theme tune has changed a lot, sometimes they last years and sometimes just a few months. They find me, not the other way around. They have included; I Will Survive by Gloria Ganor, You Oughta Know by Alanis Morrisette, Not Ready to Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks and Grace Kelly by Mika. It’s clear to see I am a drama queen!

My latest theme tune is Dance Without Sleeping with Melissa Etheridge; actually it speaks to me so much I have named my blog after it. I suffer with depression and insomnia and no matter how bad I am feeling or tired I am I can always listen to music and have a little dance. Music is my therapy and helps soothe my soul.

What’s your theme tune?

The Sunday Chill Out - Shelter

I heard this track on Radio 1 on Friday on my way back from shopping. We got home before it ended so we sat in the car until it ended. Not sure who it was OH went on the search to find the answer for me.

The Sunday Chill Out is Shelter by Birdy, she is 14 years old and has an amazing voice.

Sing Along Saturday - Footloose

There are two musical parts to me. There is the rocker chick and then there is the cheesy chick.

I love musicals and music films and one of my favourites is Footloose. I have no idea how many times I have seen it but its well over 50! (I know I'm sad).

There are so many great songs I could pick from Footloose including Bonnie Tyler's Holding out for a Here and Let's hear it for the boys by Deniece Williams but I thought I would go with the obvious...

Sing it loud and sing it proud!
