Why You Should Always Listen to the Train Announcers

On our way home from the rugby on Sunday (full details to come soon), we had to get a train from Birmingham to Peterborough. It was a slow train that was going through the Cambridge and stopped at every station going.

Our ticket collector/train announcer was either bored, drunk or on a beat as these are some of the announcements he made...

"This trains stops at Coleshill, Nuneaton, Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Oakham, Blah, blah, blah"

"arrives at Cambridge 3.10 for the intelligent that's 15.10"

"This train stops at melton Mowbray, Oakham, Stamford, Peterborough, etc, etc"

"Pork Pievile approaching, Pork Pievile approaching, my mistake its Melton Mowbray"

"This is Oakham, this is Oakham where they poke em according to hearsay in the eye"

"change at Peterborough for trains to London, Newcastle, Spalding....Whitlesey. Why I'm on the subject shout out to the Whitlesey Massive"

It was the funniest train journey I have ever had and I almost stayed on the train to hear what he came out with next!

  1. I laughed out loud at these! Brilliant. If only more train drivers has a sense of humour!

  2. LOL!!! If every train journey could be like that!!

  3. I've always wanted to be on a train with an announcer like this! Brilliant!

  4. He'll probably be sacked as a result of being human.

  5. Excellent - wish I had been there! Makes such a welcome change from the normal mundane announcements!

  6. Sally - I don't many people noticed!

Sunshine and Rhubard - It was so funny

Mothersalwaysright - It made my day

    Alex - probably

    Lorraine - Indeed it did
